Try Thuon holds a PhD in social sciences from an international program at Chiang Mai University, funded by the research program on Urban Climate Resilience Program in Southeast Asia Partnership (UCRSEA). His PhD thesis examines the politics of urban space making, formation of urban strategic groups, and resilience practice within emerging secondary cities in Cambodia. His on-going research project focus on resource politics, water vulnerability and security, ethic relations within trans-boundary Mekong wetland resource, urbanization processes, and socio-economic transformation of urban development of Sihanoukville in times of the covid-19 pandemic.
