Development Challenges in Yephyu, Tanintharyi Region, Myanmar
In this volume of the Understanding Myanmar’s Development series, Aung Lwin—a scholar from the research area—has researched and writes from a unique perspective on the impacts of gas pipeline projects and their respective CSR programs. Through participant observation and extensive interviews with local people and project stakeholders, he has examined the impacts on local people and explored some of the wider environmental, socio-economic and cultural transformations resulting from the pipeline projects. The paper concludes with a list of recommendations to improve the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects, and related CSR programs, in Myanmar.
