Call for Applications: Capacity-building Workshop on Researching Social and Environmental Changes from a Cultural Perspective

Overview

Join us for a workshop designed to foster a network of scholars from Southeast Asia and South Asia who are engaged in research on social and environmental changes from humanistic, social, and cultural perspectives. This workshop aims to facilitate collaboration, allowing participants to develop and present innovative ideas about the socio-environmental crisis to the academic community. The workshop is sponsored by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency and the Association for Asian Studies.

The Regional Center for Social Science and Sustainable Development (RCSD), Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University

Qualifications

Applicants must fit one of the following categories:

  • Academic staff in a higher-education institution in Southeast Asian or South Asian countries
  • Graduate students studying in in a higher-education institution in Southeast Asian or South Asian countries

Documents to provide with application

  • Abstract of no more than 500 words about your research which reflects the theme of the workshop “Social and Environmental Changes from a Cultural Perspective”
  • CV which includes your current status, educational training, and previous academic works and/or participations

11 October – workshop registration at RCSD
12 – 14 October – the workshop

Benefits

Successful candidates will receive the following support:

  • Full expenses for domestic flight tickets for participants from Thailand and also for regional applicants from Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar
  • Partial coverage for the flight tickets of participants from countries outside of Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Thailand
  • Accommodation for 3 nights from 11 – 14 October
  • Meals and transportation from accommodation to the workshop venue
