Introduction
This advanced writing workshop, held 6-8 November at Chiang Mai University, is designed for advanced graduate students, ideally those enrolled in Master’s or Ph.D. programs at Thai universities, as well as independent and visiting scholars affiliated with Thai universities. Successful applicants will be required to submit drafts of parts of their dissertations or dissertation chapters. Feedback on the students’ work will be provided not only by relevant faculty members at Chiang Mai University or other universities in Thailand, but also by their peers at the workshop. This workshop is sponsored by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada.
Objective
This writing workshop has three aims. Firstly, the workshop will provide participants with faculty feedback to improve their work. Secondly, it will also provide an opportunity for the participants, who are all advanced postgraduate students or engaged in independent research at postgraduate level, to learn from each other about how they conduct research and to understand the value of peer review at an early stage in their academic journey. Thirdly, it will also create synergy and collective scholarship as the faculty members and graduate students work together to produce knowledge.
