The Regional Center for Sustainable Development (RCSD) in collaboration with Asia Justice and Rights (AJAR) is pleased to announce the Transitional Justice Training Program, taking place from 16 to 18 December 2024 at RCSD, Chiang Mai University.
Training information
The goal of this three-day intensive training program is to increase the capacity and proficiency of community leaders, legal professionals, civil society members, and human rights activists who work on issues pertinent to transitional justice including environmental justice. Participants will gain knowledge of post-conflict justice and accountability systems, with an emphasis on:
- Understanding transitional justice concepts and frameworks
- Truth-seeking, reparations, and institutional reform processes
- Promoting accountability and addressing impunity
- Victim-centered approaches to justice and reconciliation
- Practical tools and strategies for advocacy and implementation
The program will include interactive sessions with leading experts in the field, case studies from the Asia-Pacific region, and group exercises designed to foster collaboration and peer learning.
Who Should Apply
The program is open to candidates currently residing in Thailand with a focus on those located in Chiang Mai or the surrounding vicinity who are actively engaged in human rights, environmental justice, or transitional justice initiatives. Some (very limited) funding is available to support domestic Thailand travel and accommodation for a select few participants. We welcome applicants who:
- Have a background in human rights, law, peacebuilding, environmental justice, or related fields
- Are committed to promoting justice and reconciliation within their communities
- Have prior experience working with conflict-affected communities (preferred, but not required)
We strongly encourage applications from underrepresented groups, including women, youth, and individuals from conflict-affected regions.
